Postcards were the Instagram of the past. They were pictures people sent, with greetings and messages, to family and friends of places lived and visited. This summer, the Los Angeles Almanac is pleased to bring online a permanent exhibition of digitized images from our collection of more than 600 vintage Los Angeles Area postcards. Through these, you may virtually tour Los Angeles County's past, from 1906 through the mid-20th century. Many of these cards were mailed long ago (some more than a century ago) with personal messages about life and travels in L.A. You will be able to read those messages. All images will be unaltered from the original postcards and enlarged to closely study and enjoy the details in each card.
A specific date for the launch of this exhibit this Summer has not yet been set. Please check back here for updates.
