City Government Officials

In 1769, the Gaspar de Portola expedition, the first European land exploration party in the Los Angeles area, built a bridge over the San Jose Creek while camped nearby. In 1884, the area was named Puente (bridge in Spanish). The name was changed to La Puente in 1955.
