City Government Officials

Named by George Shatto about 1887 after the legendary Elysium of King Arthur, a sort of Celtic paradise. The city had been called Bay of Seven Moons, Johnson's Landing, Dakin's Cove and Timms' Landing prior to being named Avalon.
