The U.S. Census estimates that, in 2015, there were 304,828 U.S. military veterans living in Los Angeles County. They comprise about 4 percent of the county’s civilian population age 18 years or older and about 1.5 percent of the entire veteran population in the nation. Los Angeles County's veteran population is the largest in any U.S. county. Of these, the 19,750 female veterans in Los Angeles County also make up the largest female veteran population in the nation.
