The issue of crime rates has received a lot of attention and rightfully so. However, what doesn't help are efforts to exaggerate or dismiss what crime rates really look like. High crime rates are not limited solely to major U.S. cities governed by Democrat politicians and L.A.'s crime rates are far from the worst in the nation, despite it enormous size. The Almanac presents here the latest ten years of key crime data available for the city of Los Angeles, derived directly from LAPD data. We focused on Los Angeles within Los Angeles County, not only because it is, by far, the county's largest city (and the nation's second largest), but also makes up a significant portion of the county's population.
