The Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers lead the NBA with 31 appearances in the NBA Finals since 1947. The Boston Celtics follow with 21 appearances. The Celtics, however, lead the Lakers in total number of NBA Final championships, with 17 championships to the Lakers 16.


The Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers also lead the NBA with 179 games played in the NBA Finals (144 as the Los Angeles Lakers) and, winning 89 games, most games won (69 as the Los Angeles Lakers). The Boston Celtics again follow in second place with 129 games played and 77 won in the Finals.
