The Hollywood Courthouse at 5925 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood was closed in 2013. In 2016, the Los Angeles County Mental Health Courthouse (1150 N San Fernando Road) was closed due to structural damage and its operations moved to the Metropolitan Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles. that were completely closed in 2013: Catalina Island, Huntington Park, Malibu, Pomona North, San Pedro, West Los Angeles, and Whittier. Beverly Hills Courthouse now only handles traffic cases.
The newest courthouse in Los Angeles County is the $340-million Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach. It opened in 2013. It is 65% larger than the old courthouse (built in 1959) that was located only a block away at 415 West Ocean Boulevard. The old courthouse, torn down in 2016, was considered by state officials to be one of the most outdated in California.
