Note regarding week, ending May 29, 2021, in chart above: 3,857 backlogged cases were added to the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for this week. These cases (lighter orange portion of that week's data bar in the chart) actually occurred over the previous year, as far back as March 16, 2020. These were not initially identified as COVID-19 cases, but only later determined to have been COVID-19 infections.
Note regarding week, ending Aug. 21, 2021, in chart above: Public Health added 10,163 additional cases on Aug. 20 to the cumulative number for the county. These were cases of individuals who, over the course of the pandemic, had a repeat positive test more than 90 days after their initial infection.
Note regarding week, ending Sep. 11, 2021, in chart above: Public Health did not release specific data for Sep. 11, due to a data systems upgrade. The final cumulative number of cases here includes an estimated number for Sep. 11 based upon the Almanac's statistical "work-back" for that date.

Note regarding week, ending Feb. 27, 2021, in chart above: 806 additional deaths were added to the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths for this week. These deaths (purple portion of that week's data bar in the chart) actually occurred during the surge of Dec. 2020 through Feb. 2021. These were not initially identified as COVID-19 deaths, but only later were identified as deaths due to COVID-19.
Note regarding week, ending May 29, 2021, in chart above: 118 additional deaths were added to the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths for this week. These deaths (purple portion of that week's data bar in the chart) actually occurred during the previous surge. These were not initially identified as COVID-19 deaths, but only were later identified as deaths due to COVID-19.
