* Compton College lost its accreditation in 2006 and continued as a satellite campus under El Camino College. In 2017, the college once again achieved full accreditation and became an independent college within the El Camino Community College District. In 2018, Compton College received approval to once again operate as a fully independent community college under its own community college district.

Los Angeles Trade Technical College is the oldest of the nine public community colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. It was founded in 1925 as the Frank Wiggins Trade School.
