In 2000, the Clippers hired Igor
Kokoskov as a full-time assistant coach. Kokoskov became the first full-time
non-American coach in NBA history. In 1999, Kokoskov, a native of Yugoslavia,
had also become the first European to hold a full-time coaching position at an
NCAA Division I college (University of Missouri). In 2004 Kokoskov was picked up
as an assistant coach by the Detroit Pistons.
