*Bill Sharman coached the Los Angeles Stars for the American
Basketball Association (ABA) and won the ABA Coach of the Year
along with Joe Belmont of the Denver Nuggets in 1970.
**Pat Riley went on the win the trophy twice more in 1993
 while coaching for New York and in 1997 while coaching for Miami.
