With an outstanding faculty - including several Nobel laureates - and such off-campus facilities as the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory and Palomar Observatory, the California Institute of Technology is one of the world's major research
and education centers.

Founded in 1875, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is the oldest institution of higher Jewish
learning in the western hemisphere. It was the first seminary to ordain a woman rabbi in America, Rabbi Sally Pries
and, in 1972. In 1992, Hebrew Union College also became the first seminary to ordain a woman rabbi in Israel,
Rabbi Naamah Kelman. Hebrew Union College was the first seminary to invest a woman cantor, Cantor Barbara
Ostfeld Horowitz, in 1975.

Otis College of Art and Design is the only independent accredited college of fine arts and design in the city
of Los Angeles.
