By 2006, Belmont Senior High School of the Los Angeles Unified School District, with an enrollment of
more than 6,000 students, had one of the largest enrollments of any high school in the United States.
Beginning in 2006, however, several new schools and educational complexes opened to relieve Belmont.
Enrollment at Belmost has since fallen to just over 1,200 students.

For the 2011-2012 school year, Los Angeles County’s Juvenile Hall secondary education program, held
across its 21 juvenile halls and camps, enrolled 1,489 students.
