Latham & Watkins, founded in Los Angeles in 1937, is the largest and highest-grossing law firm on the West Coast. It fields 1,000 lawyers in offices in Boston, Chicago, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Moscow, New Jersey, New York, Northern Virginia, Orange County (California), San Diego, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Tokyo and Washington, D.C.

In 1924, Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures and Louis B. Mayer Productions formed a partnership that launched Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). In 2005, an investor group including Sony Corporation of America and Comcast Corporation acquired the company, ending its period as one of Los Angeles County's largest public stock corporations.
