Office of Public
201 N Los Angeles St, LA
Los Angeles 90012
The Office of Public Safety for
the City of Los Angeles (in contrast with the Los Angeles
Office of Public Safety), operates as part of the City
of Los Angeles Department of General Services.
It was first organized in 2004, combining scattered police services and security
protection for more
than 1,000 city facilities and properties. The Office deploys more than 100
police officers to patrol
all the city's 400 parks (including Griffith Park, the Hollywood sign, and
Elysian Park--home of
Dodger Stadium), dams and beaches. It further assigns 300 security officers to
the city's 75 libraries,
the Los Angeles Zoo, Los Angeles Convention Center, and city sanitation plants.
The Office of Public
Safety works closely with the Los Angeles Police Department in sharing crime
complaints from the public and working on task forces for special and high
profile events in the city.
