Museums of Los Angeles County CHILDREN
In August 2000, after 21 years, the Children's Museum of Los Angeles closed its doors at 310 North Main Street in downtown Los Angeles. Museum directors decided to concentrate on development of a new larger museum rather than attempt to renew the lease at the cramped original location. Plans call for the new museum to open in the San Fernando Valley in the Hansen Dam Recreational Area in 2007. The new facility will feature 60,000 square feet of space versus the 17,000 square feet of the original downtown location.
