Requests to License LAAlmanac.com Map Images

Content within LAAlmanac.com for which Given Place Media owns the copyright may be licensed on a single-use (or "rights managed") basis, and are not available on a royalty-free (unlimited use) basis. License fees are based on size, placement, and how widely the images are to be distributed.

Non-commercial use

We do not charge license fees for non-commercial use. Some examples of non-commercial use could be use by government agencies, public schools, personal webpages, or non-profit organizations that do not use our content in material for sale or for raising funds. Even if you wish to use our content for non-commercial use, you must still be permitted to do so and you must sign our non-commercial use agreement. See Process for obtaining a license below for instructions on requesting a non-commercial use license.

Any non-commercial, no-fee request may be approved if it is agreed (among other things) that:

1. A credit is published with the content as follows: [Table, Map, etc.] courtesy of Given Place Media & LAAlmanac.com

2. Content may be resized, but cannot be otherwise altered in any way, such as adding text, logos, or other graphic elements unless specific exceptions are made in advance.

3. Content cannot be incorporated into any material for sale or used to raise funds, such as a book or merchandise, even if for non-profit purposes (such would be considered commercial use).

Commercial use

Use of our content, in whole or in part, by any commercial (for profit) organization is considered "commercial use." This applies to use on the web and/or in print, including editorial use (such as a newsletter, book, or informational website). Internal use by a commercial organization would also be considered "commercial use." Use of our content by any non-profit organization, in whole or in part, for the purposes of raising funds is also considered "commercial use." Non-profit use that does not qualify for a no-fee license may be offered a discount on fees. Our single use fees currently range, for web use, from $50 (local sites) to more than $160 (national, high-traffic sites) and, for print use, from $80 (press runs up to 1,000) to $480 (press runs up to 150,000). Fees for use on homepages or covers are higher and fees for use in advertising are 25 percent higher. Fees are determined by size, placement, and distribution of our content. See Process for obtaining a license below for instructions on requesting a commercial use license.

Unauthorized use

Unauthorized use, whether intentional or accidental, will result in a fee of triple the fair market value, if paid within 10 days, or ten times the fair market value, if paid after that.

Additional policies

* License fees are paid in advance by bank check and the license is authorized by returning check and signed agreement by mail.

* Licensing may be cancelled and fees refunded up to 30 days from the effective date of the license.

* Publications containing the following content will not receive approval for a license:

-- Advocacy of violence or intolerance against any individual or organization or any racial, ethnic, or religious, group
-- Pornography or mature content
-- Excessive profanity
-- Promotion of any sort of weapon, alcoholic beverage, or tobacco-related product
-- Promotion of gambling
-- Illegal content, promotion of illegal activity, or promotion of infringing upon the legal rights of others
